Workshop Details
Making a sweet little bird's nest with eggs is a delightful project that can be as natural or whimsical as you'd like! This workshop will focus on needle-felting, a "dry" felting method which includes poking the wool with sharp felting needles. Participants will learn to needle felt the shape of the nest and then add adornments of both color and "curl".
Class will include:
A short introduction to wool and its versatility as an art and craft medium
All the wool and felting tools you will need to finish one nest and a few little eggs.

Class instruction is a sliding scale of $25-$45 which includes a $5 materials fee,
If you catch the felting bug I will have supplies/tools for sale
Felters aged 10+ are welcome. NOTE: Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
About Mandy:
Mandy has been felting with wool for 20 years. She began with "Bossy's Feltworks", a woman-owned island partnership that began in 2006. "Bossy's" features 3-dimensional figurines, toys and mobiles and was a staple at the Orcas Farmer's Market for 15 years, and continues presently with items at Lum Farm. More recently, Mandy paints with wool using wet and dry felting methods. Her work can be found at Orcas Island Artworks and Lum Farm.
Mandy's teaching style is encouraging and inclusive, with the goal of celebrating community through creating art together.
